Regular Construction Worksite Inspections

An established Okanagan luxury and multi-family home builder was experiencing problems with compliance related to WorkSafeBC inspections and their obligations as prime contractor. They have a mixed labour model of approximately 5-10 full time staff, along with 20+ sub-contractors representing the following trades: drywall, electricians, plumbers, framers, finishing carpenters, painters, roofers, foundation crews, exterior finishers, mechanical and HVAC, landscapers, insulators, flooring and tiling, cabinetmakers, and deck & railing installers.

Al has worked with this client since late 2016, conducting weekly worksite inspections across a variety of changing locations. With Al’s assistance, the client has met all regulatory compliance requirements and strengthened it’s working relationship with WorkSafeBC. Al’s inspections include thorough reporting with pictures to illustrate issues, recommendations, and building relationships and great rapport with all staff and sub-contractors. Al has also provided guidance and expertise to several of the sub-contractors as they’ve worked to ensure their own regulatory compliance.

Al’s 25-year career at the University of Alberta is a tremendous asset with this client, as it helped him develop the ability to build great working relationships with many different kinds of people, and yes, he knows all of their dog’s names! The client’s business continues to grow and thrive in a safe manner; while many of the sub-contractors seek out Al’s advice on a regular basis, and even say “Hello” at the grocery store – the ultimate compliment to “The Safety Guy.”
